Episode 14
intermediate
Hello there, everybody. Welcome to another one of these little episodes of playing Papers, Please. This is episode number, let me check. We are on episode number 14. Crazy, but we're going to be continuing here. So if you haven't seen the other episodes in this series, check out the link in the description and start from the beginning because we're already on day number 23 here. And we're going to continue and we're doing okay. We have some money. We are not dying of hunger. We're not starving. But let's check out the newspaper for today. And so it says here that polio has resurfaced in the United Federation. So polio is an illness or a disease that has not been around for a while thanks to vaccines and stopping the polio epidemic, but it's coming back, it's resurfacing, it's reviving, it's happening again in the United Federation. Is it just an isolated diagnosis or is there something more? So a diagnosis is when somebody is told, you have polio, you have COVID, you have a disease, that's a diagnosis. And then isolated is like a single person, one person, right? So if one person gets polio, that might not be a problem. So is it one person or is it something more? We don't know. Anyways, it's December 15th, 1982. Let's walk to work. Oh, whoa. There's somebody in red in the crowd. Oh that's somebody said that a while ago the man in red is. Not a threat I don't remember what they said but there's a man in red in the crowd. Alright let's read this so your position. Your position is important and your responsibilities are broad. Follow all protocols strictly. Glory to Arstotzka. Your position is important. So what we're doing is important and our responsibilities are broad. We have a lot of things to be doing. Yeah, we have to shoot people. We have to check their passport. We have to do so many things. But that's all they have to say today. So that's interesting. And here are the wanted criminals of today. Let's just hop into the day and see what happens. There's our drawing from our son. All right, here's this lady. Well, that's you. So, there we go, right off the bat, you are a criminal. I have nothing to say, she says. We have some questions for you. Guess we'll just detain you. I don't really know what else we can do. You're on the criminal list, I have to follow the rules. Next please. What's happening? Next. Oh jeez. Papers please. Ezek. Okay. Kala Deltweth. That's the guy that we literally killed. Another assassin comes. Man in red. Carries info on all Ezek in Arstotzka. Cannot take chances. You must kill him today. We will provide an opportunity. If succeed, you will be caught. Must sacrifice self for Arstotzka. Family will be safe. Okay, so they're telling me I have to kill him. I have to kill this man, and they're going to catch me because I killed a guy. I do not know what to do. I don't know what to do. This person is just visiting 30 days. Crazy. Okay, that's not, that's a different name, Allison. The names do not match. I have different names, yada yada. I'm trying to figure out what I should do about this guy. I've been helping Essex so far. Do I continue to help them? Um, and she has this, it has the two names. Okay. Shingleton, that all looks good. Purpose visit one month. Um, stray hair, 50 kilograms, one 72 expires in the future. Sure. Passport number is the same. That name we got enterprise in the future. That's in the future shingles and females. Sure. Um, But I really don't know if I want to kill another dude. So I could shoot, I could stun him. That would be bad too. I could shoot him. I have that. So this guy's just visiting for three months. Yep, numbers match. That's in the past. But I don't really know what other options are for, instead of, if I don't want to kill the guy, like I can't, maybe it's going to be an attack or something that I can stop. They said they're going to take care of my family, so maybe we'll try it. OK, future two months just visiting numbers match. Yulia Ekaterina, Yulia Ekaterina. Great. Enter by in the future overweight. Seventy seven kilos. One seventy six. Great. Ekaterina Yulia. Shingleton. Future. It looks good to me. I see no problems here. Um, don't really know what I'm playing for. Not really. What would you do? Tell me down in the comments below. I'm staying for a couple of days. Just transit. Yep. Um, numbers match Isabella Corkum, Corkum, Isabella. Um, and you're buying the future two days transit. Yep. Curly Bob's hair. Sure. 58 kilos. Sure. One 48. Okay. She's way taller than she should be. This is incorrect. Let's make sure this is really you. Now I have ink everywhere. Is this really you? Yeah, it is. That's all you? Great. All right, well, that's really you. You're just weirdly short on this. Okay, expires in the future, past, West Grestin, Kolechia. Is that place in Kolechia? It is, West Grestin. All right, I think we're good. I couldn't find anything. Take your password. Yeah. We're supposed to kill the dude. All right, what's the purpose of our trip? He's going to move here, immigrate forever, future, numbers match, Emil Peterson, Emil Peterson, short curly hair. Is that curly hair? I guess it is. Yeah, 86 kilos, 176 tall, um, murderous, 84 male. Sure. Let's call that good. Um, cause no trouble, please, sir. Next. No, what? Invalid expiration date, ID supplement. Dang it. Plan to work. Um, Eight weeks. Oh, there's the guy. So this is the thing that we're supposed to kill this guy. Oh, Jesus. I just, that was three people? Well, you're under the arrest for murder of an innocent. The penalty is death. We will be put to death. Your family will be questioned about their involvement. The border will remain open under a replacement inspector. Glory Dworastocka. A note appears from under the cell door when we're in prison. Inspector, family is safe, target eliminated, but other problems arise. Replacement inspector not cooperative. Ezek activities hindered. That means they're stopped. They're slowed down because the other guy is not helping. He's not working with them. We cannot provide further support. Ezek to hibernate again. It didn't even work. Hibernate means basically go to sleep, to stop working. Ugh, terrible. Family will be taken to Obudistan. So my family is taken to another country. Good luck. Well at least they're safe, so this is our stats for this we got ending 9 of 20 Let's let's let's start that again this time day 23. I think that's I just start right start right here, right? Yeah, so I This time we're not gonna do that, we saw that that didn't work, obviously. So, that was an ending to the game, an ending, but I think we can find a better ending to finish the series on. What is the purpose of your trip? Work, half a year. Work, six months. Galina Belenska. Numbers match. Enter by in the future. That's the right document. Entry permit. Yep, that's the right seal. Okay, dark hair, 63 kilos, 179. Sure, expires in the past. There we go, ha ha. Discrepancy detected. Your document is expired. I was busy. Sorry, lady. Your document is expired. I cannot give this to you. Next. All right, this is the Ezik guy. So we know that we're supposed to kill a dude. I don't think we can do that. I don't think I can kill a guy. We shot like three people that time. Shoot to kill, he says. I don't think we're gonna do that this time. I think we're going to do something different. It did not work. We're trying something else. We don't want to kill a whole bunch of people. That looks like you, my guy. We have some questions for you. I do not like your tone, he says. Wait here. What is this? please leave out all right next person let's try to get to this this next i don't know event that happens quickly um oh a diplomat um my presence was requested docs diplomatic oh it's on the map isn't it this is from colecia so that is the correct diplomatic authorization republia astorska astorska arstotzka Um, numbers match Jessica Chandler's. Oh, it's a different name. These names do not match. I have multiple names. She says, all right, prove it. Prove it to me. Um, everything else looks okay. Jessica Chandlers and Pakuna Abda. All right, looks good. In that case, I think you're good to go through. I don't see an issue with your names, now that you have two of them. All right, next person here, he's got a tall head. Purpose of your trip, in transit, duration of stay, two weeks, okay. Transit, numbers match, in the future, Dominic Widener. Dominic Widener, great, short light hair, 83 kilos, 180 centimeters, expires in the future, great. Expires in the future, San Marmo, male, born in the past, Alright, that's good. You may go. Cause no trouble, please. Next. No! Is that an ID number? Damn it. Ah, well. You can't win them all. Dates are the same. I'm going too quickly. 162, 178. Polowska Tiara. Polowska Tiara. Wozenfeld District. Wozenfield District. I think I've seen that before. Oops. Map. Arstotzka. Wozenfeld. Yep. And Paradizna. Yep, that looks good. Alrighty, I don't see any problems. I'm sure there's something else again. Was that her? No, that wasn't her. What? Invalid sax. Oh god, this is going terrible. Well, that's not you. That's obvious. This does not look like you. It's an old picture you changed completely. Yeah, this isn't you. This is a stolen passport or something. Oh, you say? Come take this lady away from me, please. Get out of my booth. Get out of here. Out. All right, we gotta continue, gotta keep going. I've gotten two citations today. That's so many. Okay, he's going to work. How long? Six months, great. Future, correct, correct. There's the guy. All right, we're not going to kill this time. We're going to prank this guy. The day was cut short by a terrorist attack. All right. We're just going to continue and we'll see what happens. So can the wall hold? Border safety continually questioned, it says. The wall is like our border, right? So the safety is being questioned. Is it working? We don't know. All right, December 16th, 1982. December 16th, 1982. December 16th, 1982. All right, recent events have cast suspicion on the activities of Arstotzkan citizens in the Altan district. The ministry, I see we have something here. Ministry of Information has requested our cooperation. A special drawer for confiscating documents has been installed in your booth. So to confiscate is to take something from somebody because they're not supposed to have it, right? And so we're suspicious. There is suspicion of people from the Altan district in Arstotzka. And so we can take their documents and put them in here. Confiscate Arstotzkan passports belonging to Altan residents. Okay. The rule book has been updated with information regarding this confiscation policy. Basic rules. Asylum seekers. Oh, no. The rulebook, rulebook, rulebook. Where is it? Foreigners, diplomats, weapons. I'll call it the... Conf. Aha, here it is. Passport confiscation. Drop passport in confiscation drawer. Confiscate Arstotzkan passports belonging to Altan residents. Passport must be confiscated before detaining. So there's this new information in here. Okay. Travelers must still be granted entry if passport is confiscated and no other rules are violated. So if they can go through, they're allowed to, they can go through, but we have to take their passport. Passport seizure slips will be issued to allow entry or denial without a passport. And so we'll get like a little piece of paper, a slip that says that we took your passport, but you can go through. Glory to Arstotzka. Here it is on ID and then yeah, wanted criminals. Hey, it's Georgie. It's Georgie, the guy. He's a wanted criminal now. Exciting. All right, let's get into this. Next. So this is going to be somebody from Alton, I think, just to give us a test. Um, yep. Alton district. So we go into here. Um, how do I do it? Do I just take it? Okay. So I think I just have to check everything first. So, um, that's all good. 166 is all good. 52 kilos is good. Um, Ekaterina Lubovna, Ekaterina Lubovna. Great. I think everything looks good, but I don't do this. What I do is I take this, I put it in here, and I give her an approved stamp like that. Thank you. It is good to be back home. I'm leaving for a trip soon. I just need my passport back. It's being confiscated. What do you mean contact the number on the slip so that there's a phone number? And so she says I'm not leaving without my passport, which means that I have to detain her Because yeah, she says that She's leaving for a trip soon, so she wants her passport back. She's a citizen. She's got she's allowed a chance to move freely, but we need to Confiscate whoa damn dragged her body out of there. Physically, see? She's being dragged, she's being carried away. Crazy. All right, well, next person here. I remain until I die? What the heck? That's a very weird way to say that you want to immigrate. My mistake, I remain only for two weeks. What, how, how do you plan to stay here until you're going to die? And they go, Oh wait, just kidding. It was two weeks. Um, okay. That's in the future. 14 days transit. Those numbers match. Ryan Johnson. Johansson. Ryan Johnson is a, is a director. Ryan Johansson. Um, or Rion Johansson, great rapid, um, short hair, 62 kilos. That, that is short hair, right? Yeah, it is. It's 168 centimeters. That's in the future as well. GreatRapid84. All right, I see no problems. Probably is something, but I'm getting tired. Next. So this is gonna be a long episode, actually. No! Invalid height? What do you mean? It was correct. Okay, where's your ID supplement, dude? Where's your ID supplement? What is a supplement? Get out of here. Next. All right, that's too much. Papers, please. Oh, it's the guy. Read message. We have missed our chance. Man in red survives. He now targets Ezek agents in Kolechia. Our plans must adapt. Yeah, okay. I just can't kill innocent people and die for you. I don't know what you're doing. I haven't seen any proof that you're actually making progress in the country. All right, well, straight hair, transit, a couple weeks, sure, future, doesn't match. Does not match, number's wrong. Why doesn't this number match? Check again, what do you mean? It's just wrong. It's just the wrong number. Next. We have one passport here. Oh, here's another one, maybe. Altan District. God, you look deathly. You look like you're gonna die. 61, 162 centimeters. Date of birth is the same. Michael Walensky. Baradizna, 83, male. Walensky, Michael. Yeah, I have to... Take this, so I'm going to give him his passport, or his passport, passport, slip. My passport, he says, it's being confiscated. You cannot do this. Contact number on slip. There's nothing I can do. They told me to do it, so I gotta do it. It's another rule to keep in mind. All right. Toto Tionski is coming for a visit. Um, couple of weeks. Sure. Enter by in the future. Numbers match. Toto Tionski matches. Um, Vedor in the future, male 47. Sure. Tall forehead. Yep. He's got a tall forehead. Big ol' forehead. 180 centimeters tall, 78 kilos. This expires in just a few days. You gotta be careful there, buddy. I think everything's fine here. I don't really see an issue with your passport or your papers. Cause no trouble, please. Let's keep going here. Georgie, you're on the wanted list. Coming for a short visit, but you're on the wanted list, my guy. Your face is in the wanted bulletin. What? I pay police like crazy. They promised no bulletin. I really think twice about trusting friendly people. Sorry, Georgie. Oh man, most of the police already know me now. I'll have a little talk with them. Anyways, you have a tough job. I'd rather sell drugs. What a character. What a character. He's trying to sell drugs and just does not care. Very funny guy. All right, she's coming to work, 12 weeks, three months work future. Numbers match. Um, Marcella Santos, Santos, Marcella. Great. Um, this all looks like it matches. Cool. Right. Three months, right? 12 weeks. Yep. Okay. Enter by in the future. Bob's hair. Correct. Eighties, 57 kilograms. Correct. One 70, one 69 centimeters. Correct. Okay. Surveying says you've got three months in the country. Yep. Um, Marcella Santos, yep. Okay, Glorian, that's in Integria, right? Map, Integria, Glorian, yep. 5882, ooh, your password expired. I'm very sorry. Must be a typographical error. I'm sorry lady, your password expired a few days ago. I cannot let you into the country. Next, please. All right, here's this person, Kolechia, passing through, transit, so just a couple of days, great. Enter by in the future, yep. Passport, number of matches, Leila Gajic, Leila Gajic, great. Short hair, yeah, 67 kilos, yeah, 179, yeah. Enter by in the future, yeah. Avedor, 52, 84. Yeah, this looks good. Wow, I'm good, I'm tired. I wanna go to sleep. It's getting harder when I'm tired. Okay, we're good though. All right, is this another? Nope, not an Arstotzkan citizen. All right, only to visit one month, sure. Enter by is next month. These numbers match, Stephanie Buch. Is that the right thing? I think it is. Docs, entry permit. Yep, that's correct. 1936, 33, 83, West Creston. No, West Creston is Republia? It's Kolechia. Hang on. What is going on here? Oh. I have to go to the right place. Map, Republia. There it is. Discrepancy detected. The issuing city is incorrect. I'll just do that. There you go. All right, there we go. Finish this triple day episode where we had a finished game. We got an ending, but I think we can get for a little bit of a better ending where we don't kill anybody or more people. So we're gonna end off here where we got a little bit of extra money from detaining people And our easy mode crutch, so we're doing okay on money. We live with our five family members in our class six apartment So things are not amazing, but we're doing all right, so we'll have to continue in the next episode though So I will see you then have a good rest of your day. Bye
