Hello there and welcome to another one of these episodes where I play Papers Please. This is a series made for English learners who are trying to find something interesting to watch that has some good words and where I explain things. If that sounds good to you, make sure to click on the link in the description below to start the series from the beginning because we're already pretty far into the story. We're on day 25 here, so let's just get going. And the news today says, a full-blown epidemic threatens the United Federation. So full-blown is 100% something that's all the way there, really big. So a full-blown epidemic is sort of like a pandemic. It's usually another word. or it usually has a slightly different meaning. So the pandemic we learned from COVID in the last, how many years ago? Whatever. An epidemic isn't usually or isn't always an illness or a sickness, but in this case it is, it can be, but it's usually something that's widespread. So lots of people, it affects lots of people and it's a problem, it's something bad. So a full-blown epidemic is a big, massive, real epidemic, right? And it threatens, right? It's putting in danger the United Federation. So previously under control, right? So before, it was under control. It was able to be stopped. There wasn't a problem, right? Polio is back with a vengeance. So polio is a disease, a very Bad disease that is very damaging to somebody's life and can kill them And it was under control. We did sort of stop polio being a problem in most countries So it was under control, but however, it's back and then in you can say back of the vengeance means that something wants to like win or it was previously lost or something like that and Polio is a disease, it doesn't have emotions. But when somebody comes back with a vengeance, it usually means that they really want to win. They want to get revenge, maybe. But let's hop into day... 25, I forgot already. Anyways, it's December 17th, 1982. And I have a smudge on my glasses. I have a smudge. There we go, got off my smudge. Friend, how are you? I have a small favor to ask. This is the guard that is our friend, by the way. During the war, I met a beautiful girl. I think about her every moment. Yesterday, I received word that she's finally coming here. Please let her pass and I will be in your debt. Her name is Elisa. Okay, so now somebody else is asking us for something. Alisa, to Sergio from your Alisa, love you always. Aw, how cute. And he wants us to let her through because she probably doesn't have the right papers. So we're gonna have to make a decision. I think our friend is, we can help him out. He's our friend. Anyways, so inspector, United Federation citizens present a risk of spreading infectious disease, right? So that's the polio that we were talking about. And so they might have polio and might spread it to our country. Deny all entrance from United Federation. Continue to confiscate our Stolzkan passports from Altan district. All right, I forgot about that. We have to confiscate the passports of certain... Arstotzkan citizens, so let's start the day. It is so easy to deny entry. All this paperwork is wasted. Kind of. So she's complaining that why do all this if you can just say no? Right, which is kind of, which makes sense. It's from my son. She just insulted my drawing and said that maybe he should try sports. Oh God, you're not even from Alton, so I can't take away your passport. You're so rude. That was so mean. She insulted my son's drawing. All right, let's see, what's going on here? Docs, ID card.
